What is the Hawkinge Partnership?
The Hawkinge Partnership is made up of primarily residents and Public Service Providers who are working together to bring about positive changes in service delivery in Hawkinge. This group of residents and Public Service Providers form the Hawkinge Partnership Board.
The Board meets six times a year and focuses on strategic issues such as reviewing progress against the Hawkinge Partnership Strategy and Annual Action Plan, planning future direction, receiving reports from sub groups, considering and agreeing leverage funding proposals and sharing information and knowledge to inform decision making. Residents form the majority voting body on the Board to ensure all decisions made are resident led.
Hawkinge Partner Board Members
One of the most significant aspects of the Hawkinge Partnership is the real opportunity it provides for the voice of the local community to be heard. 10 local residents sit on the Board in a decision making role, of which two hold the positions of Chair and Vice Chair (see list above for more information). Residents work closely with public service providers to ensure that they understand issues that are important to local people and that changes to services are made in relation to these.
There are 10 places for service providers on the Partnership Board. These providers are important to the work of the Partnership as they are committed to achieving improvements. Service Providers currently on the Board (2008 – 2009) include:
1. Community and Regeneration (SDC) 2. Coast and Countryside Housing (SDC) 3. Eastern and Coastal Kent Primary Care Trust 4. Kent Police 5. Kent Adult Social Services (KCC) 6. Kent Youth Service (KCC) 7. Kent Partnership (KCC) 8. Children, Families and Education (KCC) - vacant 9. Employment - vacant 10. Vacant
The Partnership Board also benefits from Councillor involvement as follows:
* Hawkinge Parish Council X 2 representatives * Shepway District Council X 1 representative * Kent County Council X 1 representative
The Councillors are nominated by their respective organisations and have voting rights.

How can you join the Hawkinge Partnership Board?
The Hawkinge Partnership is always looking for residents to join either its Board or working groups. Working with the Hawkinge Partnership provides a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people, influence decisions made about Hawkinge and bring views of residents to service providers.
