Hawkinge Community Office

Other pages in this category:

The Community Office was built in 2005 following a successful planning application by the Partnership and Regeneration Services directorate of Shepway District Council.  The building was funded through the Pathfinder grant from Government Office for the South East (GOSE).  The Community Office officially opened its doors to the community in May 2005.

The Community Office was built to provide a base for the Neighbourhood Management Team and key public service provider partners and to be a local resource for the community.  It is located in a central position on Canterbury Road at the end of the parade of shops making it easy to access.

Over the last four years the Community Office has developed and is now home to the Community Warden, Hawkinge Parish Council Clerk, Hawkinge Children’s Centre and the Hawkinge Youth Work Team.  Other partners such as Shepway District Council, Kent Highways and Kent Police have also benefited from the facilities available in the Community Office to help them achieve closer contact with the community.

From when the Community Office opened in May 2005 to the end of November 2008, the Shepway Neighbourhood Management Team has:

- welcomed 5271 visitors
- supported 655 residents with use of the public computer
- helped 820 residents with an enquiry
- and out of those 820 enquiries:
138 residents have been signposted to the Community Warden
65 residents have been signposted to Kent Highway Service
52 residents have been signposted onto local clubs/groups
